weekly progress report #1

So the first part of the update, the AI improvement, is almost done. I just have to make a few tweaks and I'll be able to release it. since it hasn't taken nearly as long as I expected I'll first work on the new ability for the player and then I'll work on the boss. I'll also try to enhance the overall experience. for example: a tester told me I should add trail effects and make some diversity in the enemies' appearance.
the changes I made to the AI basically make it adapt to your playstyle. if you are aggressive; just rushing at any enemies you see - the enemies will become more defensive and dodge more. in a more advanced state (if they stay defensive for too long) they will try to group with their comrades and will dodge even more. on the contrary, if you are being defensive; running away from enemies or killing one at a time - the enemies will become aggressive. they will become faster to try and defeat you. In a more advanced state, enemies will get a massive speed boost if they are far from you so they can quickly close the gap and if they are too close they will shorten the delay between a new enemy spawn.

anyways, that's the end of the first progress report. I know I said I'd write this yesterday but I fell asleep.

take care~~

by the way, I've attached a tester version of what I've done. It's basically what I've done + a small console emulator I made for testers. try to press 1-5 keys (not the numpad).
