worst news D:

I can't believe it's happening but I have more bad news...

whether you know or don't know what is happening now to Unity (the engine I use to make the game) I'll briefly summarise the situation. unity decided to charge developers per install. That's right, each time you download a game made with Unity the publisher has to pay Unity 0.005 - 0.20 (I think this is the range) dollars. That doesn't sound like much huh? that is if it was a percent of the game's price as it has been until now. before this unity only started to take a small bite from your profit when you extended 100K dollars a year. now it's for every download, even if the game is free. a lot of people and studios will start to lose money, a lot. some will have to pay unity 100% of their profits and some will even go bankrupt. can you imagine? not only do those ranges don't get any profit and gain for the time they spent on creating the game but they even have to pay, that's sickly greedy. it's no surprise as the current CEO of Unity was fired from EA for being too greedy. too greedy for EA, you can guess where it goes. and I'll not get started about the raised issue with piracy which may also be added to the payment.

how it affects me?
I wanted to become proficient in Unity since it's very easy and interactive. however, with how things look, this game will, at most, be able to slip into my portfolio. If Unity doesn't scrap this decision and instead decides to go forward with it I'll move to unreal or something. and not only me, it has been said by many that if unity enforces this policy they will quit. unity is pretty much dying right now and will die for good soon if nothing changes.

to show you a tiny piece of what Ive been doing Ive attached the base model Ill probably use for characters.

as always, have a good day and take care :)

by the way, if you want to hear more about the topic here's a guy that broke it down: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOCTSp_U-KI

Man i am so sorry to hear about that! Especially since i know alot of people tend to use unity! We love in a world where companies only want more and more money from people. I personally use godot and i dont know if thats a platform that you would consider using for your games or not but so far its done me justice but regardless I hope you can stand back on your feet but only stronger this mext time!

thank you for your kind words. I plan on moving to Unreal after I learn up to OOP in C++. it is a shame that Unity did that move but as far as I've seen they are trying to make new terms.
